I been trying to play Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed and it keeps locking up every freaking time. The game locks up in both R/RW and CD-Rom. I can play Unreal Tournament all day long but not very well with the video card I have. Does any body know why its doing this. This is what I have

I'm guessing you meant Win95 2nd edition, which is odd for a 1GHz P3 setup. Or is that Win98SE? Either way, both are supported under NFS. Have you tried all the MS updates? Also, you could try the forums of the fan-based sites listed at the NFS site..

Since you posted this to the General Hardware Forum, the video card is the low-point of that system, performance-wise. Still, it meets the needs of NFS.

I dunno about that video card causing the problem. I was running a TNT1 classic with 1/2 the ram and it played Tribes2 and B&W beautifully.

I get a good number of locks in NFS: PU as well. I think it is speed related. For whatever reason this game makes my cpu really heat up(physics calculations maybe). There is a patch you can get. Go in the game and go to multiplayer -> Internet and it'll tell you that it is out of date and you need a patch. This has helped some, but mine still locks sometimes too. Sorry I cant help more, but I think heat is the real problem.

Yea sorry I meant 98SE. I when I installed it, I was able to play like one round of single player. Then I went to the tournament play I would get half way through and it would lock up their. I will try their web site and see what they can do for me. On another note, a friend of mine runs almost the same setup expect for the SCSI drives and video card. He runs IDE and the Matrox 32mb and his locked up once and never did it again.
