I would be quitting my good paying stable job for a temp job with a paycut in a field i want to work in. There is a chance that this job could become a permanent one.

The stable job is in a career that does not really interest me, but the pay and benefits are good and i enjoy the people i work with. I wont be getting any benefits on the temp job unless it becomes permanent.

I can afford to take the paycut, although it wont be fun, because I have a part time job and my wife works as well.

Anyone start a temp job in a field they want to be in and it turned out good?

You only live once -- if you're not going to crash financially, I'd say go for it.

if you're single w/ no dependents, and you really really want to do it, then go for it.

If not, a huge Eff'in NO.

if you're not going to destroy yourself financially, going to a career you like sounds like the wisest thing you could possibly do.

If you don't like what you're doing, take the other job. Pay and benefits aren't everything...

I don't know that I would burn any bridges along the way though, that might come back to haunt you down the road. You could always give it a try and come back if it's not for you or not what you thought it was.

I know a guy who ditched his boring, but well paying gov't job about 10 years ago.

Wife divourced him because he wanted to pursue his dream job. It didn't pay well, and his family started to have a lot of financial trouble.

It's a risk. One can say "no guts no glory.." but then again, if it fails, you'll probably fall pretty hard.
