Im planning on buying a 12 month xbox live card. my main question is, does it matter how long i wait to redeem the code? like lets say i wait a month after receiving it to enter the code, could microsoft count it as invalid?

A month after? No. Two years after? Maybe.

I can't remember the exact length of time for expiration but it is more than a year I believe.

Why not just enter it. The 12 months adds to your current time left, it doesn't replace it.

Get it at buy.com with $10 off using Google Checkout for $34 shipped.

You can redeem it any time and it will add 13 months (12+1), to your current subscription (if you have one).

I've seen the Buy.com method get as low as $28 or so.

i've had an account on buy.com for over 2 and have never ordered anything from them before. When i went to proceed with logging in with google checkout, it still reads the total cost as 44$. Do i have to click "Place your order now -- 44$" to see the 10$ offer?

Have you used Google Checkout before? The deal is for new users only. Just create a new account with a different email address and/or credit card.

Have you used Google Checkout before? If so, just sign up for a new Gmail name and use that one. The $10 off only applies to new GC users.

It will show up on the very first Google Checkout page - don't click place order until it's there.

I heard they've been watching for that. Or sort of watch for it. Chances are you won't get noticed, but I probably wouldn't bother.

Hopefully they're no longer in circulation but for a while there some cards could only be used to make new accounts and not to add more time to an existing account. Stupid idea if ever I've heard one but the first card I bought was exactly that.

Actually how I ended up with my current XBL GT, I had to make a new one up to use the card :p

It shouldn't matter which CC you use.

I just did this a week or so ago. New Gmail account - same address and credit card - didn't even remove it from my original one - got the $10 off no problem.

It will only show up on the Google Checkout page, though - not on the buy.com site. If it's not there even with a new account, then I don't know. Maybe they stopped the promotion or something?

You don't need a buy.com account at all - that's the whole point of Google checkout. Maybe that's the problem - you're logged in with a buy.com account so it doesn't consider you a new user?

i was able to get the offer to show up.

What i did was click the google checkout logo and then signed up for an account right there, instead of going to gmail.com to create an an account. thanks for the help guys.
