I'm a weird student...

I'm a senior in HS right now. Since Freshmen year I've been pretty consistent. I get straight A's in all non math and science courses, honors and AP courses. Last year I took honors Physics and got an A, and since my counselor convinced my parents that I'm going to need an AP science course to get into colleges as a music major (

) I'm taking AP Physics right now, and god it's hard for me (as you can probably tell from my recent threads 😉).

I'm glad I have strengths, and it's not like I'm incompetent with math/science (I've always gotten by in honors and AP level courses), but it's just so much harder for me. I've been dedicating hours every single day to this stupid Physics course, and I'm still just so confused about these things....

Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. I'm excellent in math and science, but English and Foreign Language are a struggle. I can still do well in those courses, but I have to work 10x harder for it. Sounds like you have the opposite problem. Just keep plugging away at it, and eventually you'll do pretty decent. 🙂

Umm, congratulations?

AP Physics was challenging for me, but I managed to pass the class with an A. The success lies in having a good study group. My study group had 3~4 of the top students in the class (in terms of knowledge and applying the equations), and I'm not that far from being the top 20 myself (bragging 😀), and we had tests from the previous years, so we had sufficient amount of materials to study for the tests. Also, ask the teacher questions if you don't understand the materials, I asked the teacher so many questions I often felt guilty for doing it (because he seemed to be annoyed by me asking questions all the time).

my AP physics class was the favorite of all classes i had in high school (and i'm a liberal arts major) because of the professor. he is a retired head of the physics department of a big australian university and old war vet. coolest guy ever.

I struggled with my AP physics class (got under 30% on a few of the tests), and still got a 5 on mech. and a 4 on the emag portion of the AP exam

Music killed me as a class. Lowest college grade was from that class, argh. The science isn't as bad for me at least. Just need to get with some smart people and study together.
