That sucks, lost our old cat that way. The cat always wanted to go outside and my mom decided to let her go. Problem is it was middle of the night. Never saw the cat after that. It snowed the day after. If only it snowed that day, we could of found her by following tracks.

Cats are good at finding warm places though, so the cold would be the least of my worries. 20F is nothing really. At around -30 is where you worry as their ears can freeze. They manage without us in the wild though so they have their ways to deal with weather.
