I'm a retard...

I just realized after looking at pics of computers that other people built that I mounted my Tuniq on backward.

I have the Tuniq mounted such that the label "tuniq" is right side up. The way the tuniq is shaped, it looks like it is pointing out the back like ((((((.

After seeing pics like this tuniq, so that its mounted like this ))))), I think my tuniq is actually trying to blow down.

If the fan is blowing down, then it is trying to suck air from a 120mm and 200mm exhaust on my antec 900.

Can anyone confirm that I have the Tuniq mounted in the wrong direction so that I can begin taking the whole mobo out? It's so ironic this happens right after I'm satisfied with my wiring after spending an hour or two and about to take pics. :|

the tuniq in the picture is mounted correctly, with the fins pointed toward the back.

It shouldn't really matter as long as the base is mated to the CPU properly. As was said above, you can just turn the fan around to get the air flowing in the proper direction.

Is there any reason you can't turn the fan?
Nope, no reason at all...

That is, while the body of the HSF can only be mounted north-south or east-west, the fan is mounted in a seperate frame, and can be turned in the body 180º, up or down, in or out...

If that makes sense... 😀

Are you guys saying that I should turn the fan in the tuniq around 180? Is that possible without taking out the whole mobo?

No, you take the fan out, turn it around and put it back in...
Confirmed...

This is one of the GREAT features of a Tuniq Tower 120!

The fan is mounted in a framework, that is held in place by four little screws on TOP on the HSF body.

Using a Scythe Mine 3, as an example of a BAD design... yes, you would have to remove the HSF from the mobo to replace or re-orientate the fan -- which is a major PITA. However, not so with a Tuniq Tower... 😉

I 'see' where you're coming from now... 😉

I'm still bench building my machine, waiting patiently for the Crucial Ballistix Tracers to arrive from the egg... and I was just looking at my Tuniq Tower. You're correct! The Tuniq Logo is upside down.

So, I did a Google Image Search, and discovered that a lot of ppl are turning the fan frame around 180º on the body.

Here's an example

At first, I thought this looked ghetto, going by the pics, but I tried it on my machine, and it actually looks pretty good, up close and personal... kinda punk and edgey... 😀

The funny thing is, I just took some pics... with flash, without flash, close-up, far away, from this angle, from that angle... and MY pics look just as ghetto as the ones on Google!

In other words, if it's sitting in front of you, it looks pretty damn good, but pics don't do it justice.

Soooooo, you might want to give that a whirl, and 'see' what you think! 🙂

😀 I don't see how that agrees with the question. Thanks though, I'll take the fan out and put it back in.

@vin: Is the fan actually attached to that black plate? I don't see why people would reverse the plate if you could just mount the whole HSF pointing backwards. That would make the default fan orientation blow the wrong way, but you could turn the fan anyway.
I was trying to take pics of my tuniq too, with flash there's way too much glare, and without flash it looks like a chunk of metal. 😀

I dunno, bro... 😉

I did a search on Google Images, and a LOT of Korean sites popped up with pics of the body mounted correctly (if there is such a thing), but they all had the back plate turned around backwards.

This didn't really surprise me since, if you know anything about orientals -- Koreans are the looked down upon as a 'lower class' of sorts -- the 'Mortimer Snerds' of the Asian Community, if you know what I mean...

I *guess* they want to have the body point the right direction, in a north-south config, but still have the logo right-side up.

Anyway, yes, you can turn the fan around, in the frame, any way you want. The frame has holes on both sides...

In retrospect, I think I'm just gonna continue to mount the logo upside-down. You can't really see it anyway, unless the light is at the right angle...

Put another way, I don't think there is any right and wrong way to do this. It's just whatever looks (and works best) for you!

I take offense to that. We are not looked down upon. The friggin d-bag Kim Jong-il is looked down upon, bt not the Republic of Korea. We are a prosperous people with one of the largest sea-ports in Asia, and we have Samsung. Ya know, when you have something like that to say, just shut the f*** up cuz it's just another stereotype.

Sorry! I should have qualified that...

I was referring to the Asian American Community, et al, looking down on the Korea American Community -- and this is fact, not opinion -- especially in places like Cali! 😉

This is, in part, because Korean Americans are extremely xenophobic. There is no 'blood mixing' in the Korean American Community, so to speak, and they display a stubborn desire to segregate themselves from other Asian American groups -- groups that choose not to isolate themselves -- groups that engage in civic dealings and work for the greater community.

Pardon me for being blunt, but Korean Americans are notorious for being stubborn, hard headed, and not assimilating into either the American Culture and/or the Asian American Community. Because of this -- and their inability to speak English properly, and so forth, and so on -- they are looked down upon by other Asian Americans.

Believe me on this...

ehhh. I'm better than they (the Korean Americans) are anyways. 😉
I hope so!!! 😀

Did you hear about the one at Virginia Tech on Monday?

Dude!

I wrote that over two weeks ago...

Pretty prophetic, huh?
