The urinary tract ultrasound story.

Tomorrow I'm meeting with my doctor to find out the results of my ultrasound. Already, I have gotten results in the mail, although I'm not sure how to interpret them. Apparently I have at least one cyst on my left kidney, and a cyst on one of the Boys. Also, I have bacteria in my urine, which might indicate some type of infection. Everything I've read on the internet says that these cysts are most likely nothing to worry about, but there is a possibility that the one on my kidney is very very serious.

I'm a perpetual optimist, but I can't help worrying a little. I'm sure these will turn out to be nothing, but I could use a little comfort right now.

The vast majority of renal (kidney) cysts are simple, meaning they're benign. Many people have these.

The complex cysts can be cancerous but that's only a small fraction.

On ultrasound reports, if they only say "cyst" then it's the simple variant.

I am with the "it'll be fine" crew. I can't blame you for being worried, but I'm thinking you'll soon be breathing a sigh of relief.
