So im a newb to linux, i have a couple questions to all those hardcore linux users out there. Im lagging on tux racer. I tried ati set linux drivers but it didn't work i still lagged after installing the rpm throught the root console. Ahh! it's so complicated. Does anyone know what i need to do to get my video card to not lag. I have an Ati Radeon 9550 256mb made by jetway. I have no idea where to start. Any help would be great. THanks
I'm lagging on anything that has any graphics acceleration to it. Anything 3d lags bad.
is there something i need to do. any memory sharing programs or anything like that. sheesh im a newb.

If you buy an nvidia card, I'll take your Radeon! NVidia is a little bit more Linux-friendly, but if you follow the instructions ATI provides it shouldn't be too bad. If you still have problems, http://www.mandrakeclub.com/ is a good place to go w/ Mandrake-specific questions.

I'll admit, nvidia support for linux far supasses taht of ATI. Very unimpressed with their support for linux. At least they are finally relaseing drivers.

If you are serious on gaming in linux buy an nvidia card, the drivers couldent be any more easy to install (for linux anyway).

I have ATI in my laptop, took me months to get it working, and lots of forum hunting.
