Windows networking>me

I have never, ever managed to get a network, wired or wireless, working with the wizard :(

I've managed without it once or twice, but never with that ****** pointless and useless wizard :|

If you can get your networks setup with out a wizard, then it's not you thats the failure but MS's programming team that is the failure ;)

oh dug, dug, dug..... the wizard? come ON man!!

Never use that bloated and confused piece of crap:p
Enable simple filesharing, make common users on all machines, and viola, you have some networking going on. Require a user to login and they authenticate to the other machine at the same time.

Uhm....why use the wizard. Any self-respecting computer guru would NEVER use a wizard if at all possible. Just manually config everything.

Or if you really want to be uber-geek...run an obscure linux distro that requires you to write your own drivers and configs for all your hardware.

Because laziness is easy. :)

I never use wizards if I can help it.

In fact...anything "user friendly" I despise. I still enjoy the command line interface. I like doing stuff in DOS boxes.

I mean...to run programs like terminal services I will goto start > run and type mstsc.

Or to open comptuer management I will run compmgmt.msc

User friendly basically makes stuff more stupid-friendly I think. Some of the crap I've seen in newer versions of office and the like I just can't stand.

simple file sharing? ewwww I always disable that crap so I can actually MANAGE my shares instead of windows deciding what it wants to do by itself.

This is one reason XP Home sucks. Want to take ownership of a directory that you don't have rights to? Oooops...sorry.

Never had a problem with the wizard myself. Make sure your NIC is working and set up right first or windows will not set up the network. Usually the network drivers are on the Chipset Drivers Disk.

It's so obvious what you're doing wrong here.....

You're not wearing your Wizard hat and robe while doing this, are you?
