I'm a cell phone newb - questions

I just got my first real cel phone (had done short term throaways before when needed) by getting in before the Virgin Mobile rate jump.

I got the Samsung Intercept, mostly because I have HUGE hands and thought the slideout keyboard would be better than touchscreen. After comparing to a friend's Droid (x, I think?) it's not.

What are my choices for phones at this point? I see VM has the Triumph, but is that my only choice - or can I pick up more or less any android phone and use the sim card from my Intercept?

Virgin mobile does not use SIM cards. You can only use their phones.
