I'm a bit late to the party... but I finally played through Portal (PC).

I just wanted to make a post in case there's someone else on the planet who hasn't played this game. I thought it was very clever, witty and original. Who knew such wonderful characters could be developed and executed in such a confined plot and timeframe? Took me... I don't know, 4-5 hours to play through. But I think it was the perfect length. One of the best endings ever, to boot.

A+

I purchased the Orange Pack a long time ago but never played Portal until a friend of mine started telling me about it. Once I started playing I couldn't stop. I wish Valve would do something more with Portal.

portal is one of the best little chunks of gaming in a while. the gameplay plus the computer voiceovers made it gold.

Only if you want to get better times on the puzzles. There are user made maps you can download as well. Nothing really help my interest after passing it once.

I replay Portal every now and then. It's one of those games that's just fun to mess around with the physics, like most Spiderman games. Whhheeee, I'm Spidermaaaan. . . . <swing>

I played the official levels until the end only two times, since they are the same puzzles, same maps, nothing changes, so there's virtually no replay value unless of course you want to beat your own or other people's "records", or for other testing purposes. I do play Portal occasionally but only when I find a decent looking custom map to try out, or else I don't really play it, but I certainly liked it that's for sure, the song during the credits is fantastic.

Yea, it's an awesome game. If I had payed 50$ for it, I would have been pissed about the length. Considering it might not have been as good longer, and it came with 4 other games/expansions it was well worth it.

The song sealed the deal for me. At that point I was already sitting at my computer with a smirk on my face from how awesome the final... room, was. And then they do the whole song bit to put it all over the top. Epic song. heh

Heard Portal was just a test case for the portal gun, which they are going to use in Half-life. Of course this was from different forums, nothing official.

I bought the Orange Box for Half Life 2. Otherwise, I never would have even tried Portal.

I loved Portal! I still haven't finished HL2.

well they did slip in several easter eggs linking the games, with the slide presentations scrolling in Portal that mentions Black Mesa and then Half-Life 2: Ep 2 mentioning an Aperture Science research ship disappearing, etc...

"There really was a party. I invited all your friends. I even invited your friend the companion cube. Of course, he couldn't come because you murdered him. All your other friends couldn't come, because you don't have any other friends. Because of how unlikable you are. It even says so right here in your personel file. Unlikeable. A total unlikable loner whose passing shall not be mourned. SHALL NOT BE MOURNED. It says so right here. Very formal. Very official. It also says you are adopted, so thats funny too."

I thought they announced that they were working on Portal 2 already...hasn't it been a few months?
