Check with any neighbors in the area that have an open porch/patio area that would provide shelter from the weather. My family has a habit of taking care of lost cats that take shelter in their back porch.

Ajtyeh, I have only skimmed this post so you may well have done this but, check every cupboard and drawer in your home with a flashlight, cats like to crawl into the weirdest places and go to sleep.

My cat will go into the furthest corner of the cupboard under my sink and will ignore everything including calling for him and pouring food. He can sometimes be lured out by shaking a bag of his favourite treats.

well lets see. i live 1.5 hours away from my gf and its really just a mon-thus bed to sleep. i go down to LA from thurs-to monday morning to stay with my gf. there was very little criteria when looking for a room to stay at. no drugs/no illegal shit, somewhat clean, no lease (this is month to month) no utilities. and i was kicked out by last landlord improperly so i was in a rush to get a place. ive been looking to relocate and get a new job asap away from this place. also antelope valley has alot of shady ppl so the roommate seemed friendly enough.

don't sweat it. sometimes life throws us situations, sometimes they're turds, and you just have to deal with it.

it sounded a bit odd at first, haha.

OP, you just never know with cats...I don't remember (and am too lazy to go back and re-read) how long have you had the cat in this residence?
If the cat is an indoor cat only...they often don't know how to get back to where they live...no "outside experience...no references" to guide them back home...especially if they've only lived there a short while.

MOST of us are hoping the cat finds its way back home...but you may need to get out and be proactive in the search as well.
Get out, walk around, call the cat...(which you may have already done, but it will need to be done frequently for a day or two.)
If you haven't had the cat a long time, or haven't lived in this place a long time, the cat MAY be trying to find its way to the home it knows...which may not be yours.

sounds about right. also thinking that the roommate's kids could possibly be jerks to the kitty when OP is away and the cat just wanted to gtfo. :\

Per his IP addy, past posts, and his ebay account, the OP lives in Lancaster, CA (the high desert.) It's in LA county. Hence the call to the LA county lost and found.

For those who don't already know, it does get very cold in the high desert at night. The Dec average lows in Lancaster are 29F: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lancaster,_California.

The next couple of nights, the lows are supposed to be in the 20's: http://weather.yahoo.com/united-stat...-2436084/#text

Furthermore, in his entire 5 year career here, the OP has ZERO history of trolling, attacking others, making fun of others, acting out in any way, or making any kind of parody post whatsoever.

Per my posted links earlier in this thread, the OP IS a fairly newly minted cat owner who is quite smitten with his kitten.

404 Parody thread NOT found.

Someone got nervous there for a while...

Bingo, when my cats gets out. I can quickly find him by walking around the neighborhood shaking his treat bag.

Sorry to hear that man. It's tough because there are so many coyotes around SoCal plus you have the traffic so an outdoor cat has to be very smart to stay alive around here. Our cat has gone missing for days before but I honestly think she is getting caught in someone else's home or garage because she does come back. I hate going through that though and we try to keep her in at night.

I wouldn't worry too much about the temperature. Our cat goes out in this chilly night air and she is fine. Worry more about coyotes and cars.

Hope your kitty returns.

Both of our cats disappeared (at different times) for a few days a couple of years ago. At the time, they were both about 11 years old and had never done this before.
One came home looking like he'd been beaten. (I'd probably beat, or at least chase, a strange cat if I caught it in my garage.)
We think they had gotten trapped in one of the neighbors' garage. (nosy damned cats)

Cats are like that though, if you haven't had them for a long time, they will easily find a new home if someone takes them in, that is a good thing too, it means the cat will be ok.

Most tough guys that have a cat really do give a shit, it's not a teenage angst dilemma at all.

Now your cat, just like my cats, know it's way home, 14 years is old for a cat but they can live 10+ year above that, i hope yours does.

Do you really think that cat is thinking about the OP at this moment? He's thinking about his next meal and where to stay warm tonight. The cat has moved on (pardon the pun). Dogs are more emotionally attached.

While I know that dogs > cats, by far, I also know that Narmer is an idiot.

I believe the official hierarchy of winsomeness and likability goes:

Dogs > cats > QVC shopping channel > cum-encrusted used condoms > Narmer.

Still no cat? Sorry OP. But there are some misinformed posters on here as cats > dogs. Everyone knows this, even TFP.

Ah shucks sorry to hear about this OP!
Losing a pet is terrible especially if you don't find out what happened and only wonder if he/she is ok!

I remember my cat went missing a few years ago and when we got her back her tail was half as long. She was sleeping in the engine compartment of a car when it was started and the belt cut her tail in half!

But she's still with us today at 11 years old and happier than ever!

Hopefully you find your cat OK. :)

dude, trust me, i feel your fear. my cat used to door dash from time to time and, one time, she was lost for days and days. i asked all the neighbors if they'd seen her, but no one had. every day, i'd go outside and clang a fork on her food bowl, which would normally send her running from wherever she was, meowing up a storm. got nothing.

then, like a week later, one of the neighbors came to our house and said that she saw a flyer by her bus stop that described my cat and she wrote the number down for me to call and see if it was her. i called it and, sure enough, it was her. she was about half a mile away from the house and, apparently, the people who had her were having a dinner party and when the guests rang the doorbell and someone opened the door, she just walked on in as if she belonged there. crazy.

anyways, i love my cat... i get pissed whenever the kids leave the door open too long and the cat runs out. she comes right back up to the door after about 10 minutes, but still... i hate when my cat goes out. i'm always afraid someone's gonna run her over or a coyote will nab her or something...

When I was over at your mother's house the other day, after cleaning the sheets, she mentioned how you were such a nice boy. She should read your posts.

I seriously had a dream that the OP's cat came to my house and I fed it.

OP: I am sure kitty is fine. Its really not uncommon for them to go exploring for long periods of time. If it got cold and someone is feeding it, it may hang out til it warms back up.
