I'm 99% sure this wouldn't work, but...Dual Durons?

If Athlon XPs can be made to work in dual CPU motherboards, why not Durons? I'm guessing there's probably something different about the architecture that would make it impossible, but I think it'd be funny if you could do it. Feel free to slap me around a bit with a large trout if you want.

I've never been able to try it, but supposedly all pre-Palomino Socket A CPUs are capable of Dual processing w/o modification. I'll probably never be able to find the article, but some site benched dual Durons when the first dual Socket A board came out. Durons would be slow, but dual 1.4Ghz TBirds doesn't sound too bad.

dual Durons would be kinda cool just cause you can buy them so ridiculously cheap.. they aren't too bad @ cracking either really. but I honestly don't think they work.
I regular at 2cpu.com and I've never heard of it really...

Fount it! Firinsquad compared the TBird, Duron and the Palomino-based MP all running at 1GHz. Also, they tested a "Duron MP" that I don't remember.

I think that Durons are the easiest and most reliable to mod into MP chips but I'm not 100% sure on that. Try a Google search.

When I had my 760MPX setup, I did not have the money for XP's/MP's so I went with 2 1Ghz Durons. Very fast and cheap.

But with XP's being so cheap now, theres not much point.

Would Duron MP be Palomino or better based durons like the Athlon MP used to be? If so then it might be decent, otherwize, Athlons are clearly a better value.

The 1.4GHz and higher Durons are Thoroughbred based.

if you're thinking about it, DONT go dual thunderbirds. the 1.4 model puts out about 74W of heat - now think what that will do to the temps of your system with 2 of those running.overclocked it gets even worse - i am running my old 1.33 at 1.46 and it is putting out over 100W of heat. in a well-ventilated system with a decent heatsink, it hits 51c at load. so go palomino or above.
