i'm 99.9% sure i'm going to be fired on monday

well, right now basically my job is to keep the entire infrastructure of a retailers advertising team together. that entails everything from server management, database management, computer administration and applicaiton administration down to running proofs of ads back and forth from my company's office to the company that i'm on site at. my official title is "on site administrator". i've never once been late, nor have i ever failed to do my job. however 6 weeks ago the company i work with(not for) brought in a new creative director to handle the VP side of the advertising department. he hates me. it's a deep down kind of hate too, and i'm not sure what i did to make him do this.
so... this week one of my bosses told me he has a meeting witht he creative director at the unnamed retailer to discuss my companys job within their infrastructure... and one of the things they reviewed was my position and what i do there at the retailer. according to him "you've done an outstanding job at what you do". today he went into the meeting and left without saying goodbye to me like he normally does. about 4:00 i got a call from my company's big boss saying "charles, you need to come in here and we need to talk about some things before you go out to gardenrige on monday"

ok, so i freak out. i called him back about 15 minutes later and asked him what was going on, is my job in jeapordy, etc and all he could say was "I can't talka bout it". maybe i'm jumping to conclusions but the only thing i can think of is the creative director went into my boss and said "well i don't think we really need charles around here, and if you want us to continue to use your services you need to get rid of him"

it pisses me off that i couldn't just find out today and that i have to wait til monday. luckily enough i know my company gives a minimum of 2 weeks severance when someone is let go, I also have 84 hours of vacation time accrued so i know i'll get compensated for that, so that gives me 4 weeks to find a job. again, luckily, i have very generous parents. I went and talked to them about my situation and my mom said she's be able to pick up my car note until i can afford to again. that's a major relief.

good luck

what kind of 3dmarks are you pulling with your system?

Good luck. It sucks if thats what would happens, but at least you're in a better position than a lot of other people that have gotten fired.

I hope that that doesn't happen, but if it does, I wish you the best.

the only other thing i could think of is they suyspect me of drug use during work and are going to pull me in for testing.

Talk to one of the bosses that you've gotten along well with, and get a letter of recommendation. Also make sure that you have copies of your last performance evals. If you are being released, try and get a letter explaining the reason(s). These will help in future job searches. Also, try and contact some of the related businesses that your company may work with; if you have a good rep and they run comparible systems.................never hurts to try.

good luck

I know the exact feeling my friend.

I also was fired from a job recently, and I knew it was going to happen. The boss told me he needed to talk to me before I went in to work, and well, it was obvious what was going to happen.

The thing that pissed me off was that he never used the word "fire" when we had the actual discussion, he used the word terminate instead, and tried to beat around the bush long before that.

Anyways, I agree. thats corrupt of them to "not discuss the issue" until a certain day, or some BS like that.

If its over some really stupid reason, and if you can perhaps bring down the new creative director legally, I would do so, because it sounds like what is happening to you aint even fair.

I think they would have fired you on Friday if they were going to fire you.

maybe they wont fire him, but maybe they will change his position to a less desirable one, and then he will want to quit.

Do you have VPN access? Keys to the building? If you're in IT, you shouldn't have been given a weekend to simmer and decide to fvck up the infrastructure. If it were my call you would have lost all access to everything on Friday(that's assuming you're going to get fired on Monday). I'm not saying that you deserve to lose your job at all, though. I totally sympathize with you on that.

so your not getting fired based on your job performance, but rather because some guy doesn't like you? your not tellng the whole story here man, something else is up.

...people are hired and fired all the time because a superior just "doesn't like them"... there's nothing surprising about that.
