I dont need freqent flier miles as my dad works for an airline, what gives me the best benefits that i can get at 18 with no credit?

Edit: i will not want a very high approval rate, something like 500$?

Citibank Dividend Platinum Select if you can get approved, otherwise probably an AMEX Blue Student Card (assuming you're one)

good cause you won't get them

Best advice I can suggest is get your father to Joint Cosign on a card with you. Otherwise credit companies won't trust you with there money, You have to have proof that you can handle credit to get credit. for a good part (and this isn't always the case, just almost always) You've got to joint sign on a card to get them to give you money. One thing that does come to mind though, is that if you still live with your parents you can put their money along with your's to equal your total household income instead of yours alone and get a better chance of getting a card. Otherwise it's really not who you choose, but who will choose you.

good luck

Good luck in getting approved.

Come back after you've been declined 1-2 times :)

unless your getting a cosigner, you will probably get declined.

If you have a checking or savings account w/ a bank, you can try to get a credit card through them. I have a visa through my bank.

I am wondering the same thing. I don't really need a credit card at all but someone told me it's a good way to build up your credit. I plan to always pay it completely off . Does it matter what I get?

I have a Chase Perfect Card I use strictly for gas. 6% back for the first 6 months. After the 6 months I'm cancelling it and getting the above mentioned.

If you are a student, apply for the Citibank Dividend Platinum Select card. I got instantly approved, and they started me with a $1500 limit. I was almost instantly raised to $3000, and now am at $4000. I only have a summer job, and make ~4-4.5k a summer. At the same time, I applied for a Chase Mastercard, which started me at $300, and hasn't moved since. Suffice it to say, I cancelled the Chase, and applied for Amex blue for students. Got approved for the Amex, and they gave me a $2.3k limit.
