You should be able to walk into the bank of the guy who wrote you the check and cash it. That, or one of those check cashing places.

At least here in Ann Arbor, many banks will either require you to have an account at the bank or they will take your fingerprint when you cash the check - for security purposes.

Also, I'm not sure but they may even take a buck or two out of the check amount if you don't have the account there.

But, if you're 17, I'd definitely get a bank account if I were you. Savings accounts are almost always free, and it's a good way to build up savings.

If you have I.D., go to his/her bank and cash the check. You should be able to cash it.

Exactly. Goto the bank the check is drawn on. With valid id you should have no problem.

you may have to goto the issuing bank of the checkwriter to cash it without an account (also to avoid any bouncing fees or the 10 day clearing period). Just bring photo ID (government ID if you have it) and they should cash it for you.

Too bad i have NO clue where that bank is. It doesn't seem to be a well-known place like Bank of America. Time to hit Google, thanks guys.

Maybe your fancy movie star banks are open, but us common people like our cars fast and our banks closed!

What is the name of the Bank? Most banks are not open Saturdays. I have never heard of a bank opened on Sunday.

Just go to like a check cashing place and cash it. If you have an ID, they will give you money. BUT, they charge you like a $2.00-$3.00 fee. Beats a bank account.

I cash checks at my local bank a few times(i'm 16), only was asked for ID once. It was a darn mean teller!!! I believe most banks require for you to have an account with them and probably some sort of ID.
