Illuminated Fans

I've read plenty here about how Panaflo/Nexus/Yate Loon/Vantec are the best and quietest fans. But I'm looking for a couple of illuminated fans for the front of my case (blue or purple), and these brands dont seem to make many illuminated fans.

So, I need advice from anyone about which illuminated fans are good. I know that Antec, Thermaltake (duck...phew!), Flexiglow and Vantec all make them. There are also plenty of generic illuminted fans out there.

The fans i've found so far:
Flexiglow: 80mm Quad LED fan, Blue. 3,000rpm/39cfm/32dBa
Thermaltake: 80mm Tri LED fan, Blue: 4,800rpm/72cfm/48dBa
Antec: 80mm Tri UV-LED fan, UV-Blue: 2,600rpm/34cfm/30dBa
Vantec: 80mm UV-LED fan, UV-Blue: 2,900rpm/36cfm/34dBa
Generic: 80mm Quad LED fan, Blue: 2,500rpm/32cfm/28dBA


These specs all seem fairly believeable (even the Tt one ). All of these cost around AU$20 (US$15), except the generic one, which is half the price of the others.

Anyone else have/want illuminated fans?

I have two blue antec fans in my case and while they are nifty, they are a bit on the loud side.

If all you are going for is the cool lighting coming out the front of your case then I would buy an light of some sort (EL wire may work best for you as you can put anywhere you want) and get a few panaflo's that will be cheaper and more quiet.

One other thing is, if you have you computer in the same room you sleep in it may annoy you. The lights from my computer, I find, are too bright and keep me up. If this is the case for you then a light that you can turn of would be much better. (I'm am going to get rid of my lighted fans for panaflo's soon. I have grown out of the whole "look at the pretty lights!" faze.)

This is a nice fan controller that I use that would work well for you. It will let you turn down the case fans for some peace at night and you can turn of the lights with the push of a button. That site also sells panaflos and lights for good pirces.

Im in Australia, so I usually try to find Australian places to buy from, and they don't have the same range you have in the US. Also, I generally turn my PC off b4 i goto bed, unless Im encoding video or something. I was actually thinking of setting up some LEDs behind the front grill of my case, or getting illuminated fan grills for my fans, instead of using illuminated ones. You reckon that a better idea than using illuminated fans, do you?
