Clearly you don't live in Los Angeles. :whiste:

No, but I did live in Sherman Oaks for a time. I was smart enough to flee southern Cal and only go back for short visits with friends (or Disneyland) now. The Republik of Kalifornia may seem like a foreign nation, but US currency is still accepted there. Banks aren't a necessity. Nor does one necessarily have to find themselves at the mercy of traffic patterns. Just plan ahead.

Thats wonderful. Have you driven on La Cienega blvd at 4:45pm on a friday?

I think your attitude adjustment would go by by in about 30 minutes.

If you're stupid enough to live there (or at least try driving during traffic there) it's all on you. There's traffic all over the world, but if you have a brain in your head it's not an issue. Just have to actually think about what you're doing.

Ok and I choose to pay my bills online and have a checking account so as to save me time. I never said it wasnt possible to pay bills without a bank account, its just very inconvenient.

also I HAVE to live in LA or NYC or London. Those are the only markets for what I do.

Why won't you think of the children!

My brother was in the same situation. He got a notice from TCF that they'll be charging 9.99 maintenance fee in Oct. He called them right away, demanding to have it dropped. They refused, he told them to go fondle themselves and closed the account on the spot.

Bad things happen when you don't read the shit you're signing, news at 10.
Clearly the solution is to have a gov't provide someone to read contracts for you.

No, you don't HAVE to. There is no force compelling you but your own inclination. You choose to do a certain thing, and every day you CHOOSE to keep doing it. You are entirely your own man, however, and can do anything you want any time you want.

It doesn't have to be inconvenient, you make it so by not adapting your mindset. I'm not telling you that you SHOULD not bank, I'm telling you that if you choose to do so it doesn't have to have any appreciable impact on your life unless you refuse to adapt, or are too stupid to think about what you're doing.

If you need money orders for something get them while you're out anyway. Combine things like exercise (walking/jogging/bikes) with dropping things in the mail or stopping by places you have to pay. Don't live in high traffic areas or schedule your day around traffic issues (which any sane person would do anyway rather than be in traffic). Better yet, reduce your number of bills to the ABSOLUTE minimum and quit destroying the system by contributing your own consumerist sickness to the pot.

No, you don't HAVE to.

Yes he does. Each morning as he wakes up, someone stands at his bedside, pointing a gun at his head. This man (complete with grey suit and black sunglasses) tells him he must drive to work again today or be shot and killed.

I cannot believe you would be so callous about such a thing. You are a real butt-head, you know that?

DANG YOU, DANG YOU TO HECK!

Banks arent a nice place if you dont have any money. If you have money its all warm smiles and free shit.

I was invited by BOA to a cocktail party with tasting dinner at a local hotel all for free. Well paid for on the backs of poor people. I didnt go.

lol.

BTW that event at the Bazaar SLS filled up in like minutes.

I have a career. An amazing career that I've worked very very hard to have. I would live anywhere to do what I do. It is who I am. I would do it for free and I am amazed that I am payed well to do it. My life is my dreams.

Thats fine. Its walking distance from my house :)

Did you go?

I was too late. Free $120 x2 dinner would have been nice.

Damn you fancy. One of my good friends lives on Le Doux. Went to Capital Grille last night. Love that area, especially the traffic.

Which is awesome. You've obviously prioritized your life and it works for you. However, you're still not FORCED to do anything. It's a choice, and one that fortunately works for you just like ours work for us.

TCF is a corrupt bank. Never ever do business with them. I had a business account with about 80 bucks in it. They closed it, and took the balance as administrative fee's. The asshole I dealt with had the balls to tell me this is standard practice. Sounds too me like they did the same thing to this kid. Basically legalized theft. The most insulting thing is when the asshole I dealt with had the nerve to say I could open a new account with them. In the middle of the bank I told him he was crazy and I would never do business with a bunch of thieves again.

No, you merely insisted that it MUST be inconvenient, even after being told repeatedly that it wasn't, complete with explanation as to how that was so.

Right but if you cant get it done in under 3 minutes then its inconvenient because it takes longer then what I'm doing now.

Just putting stamps and return addresses on 7 envelopes takes longer then 3 minutes.

Is it normal for them to charges the fees against your account?

for some piece of shit banks yes. they get low on funds by getting raped on the market you can expect some bullshit fee to come around. its why i dumped my bank. i had a nice chunk of money with them and they still nickled and dimed me to death. screw you! i worked for that money not you. i am doing you a favor letting you HOLD my money so (i think banks forget that or and in some cases their customers do) you can play with it on Wall Street.

my local bank was great at first. friendly service, no fees, local branch just 4 blocks from my house and i used their safe deposit boxes we were with them like 10 years. but they changed and wanted to be like the big boys and charge like the big boys.

one sat morning i opened my mail and added up the fees and siad fuck this. went down to the branch to close my account, the office closed at noon and i got there at 1130. only one in the building besides the two tellers and manager. During the process of closing my account and the manager cutting me a check the fucking AS-400 they run on at the main branch goes off line so the dumb terminals in the branch go lights out.....

god damn that pissed me off and i point blank told the manager. you wanted to know why im closing my account, well besides from you guys just helping yourselves to my money when ever the hell you feel like it but you run on a ancient piece of shit IBM AS/400... Grrrrrr!

im so glad i kicked them to the curb, fuck them thinking they can just go into my account and take out "fees" its more like a fucking tax.

That's a lesson all should learn, but most don't. Everytime somebody bitches about something involving bank or credit or just about any exchange of money, they would have known exactly what would happen if they READ WHAT THEY SIGN! I will NEVER sign something I haven't read thoroughly and understand. And if I do it under corporate business then always include company name as I'm acting as an official agent of the corporation and cannot be held personally liable.

A scummy bank like this probably has these fees buried on page 62 of the customer agreement (in four point font). Why else would someone agree to $10/mo maintenance fees and huge daily (!) OD fees?

I haven't had a bank or anything similar in many years. Never had a problem or significant inconvenience. Just requires an attitude adjustment.
