Question should apply to people that live in Illinois and file Federal Schedule A

I had an out of state temp W2 gig for a few months that put me north of Chicago (Libertyville)

I had expenses that I put on my Federal Schedule A form that were not re-embursed by the agency and they screwed up the per diem to boot. 🙁

Looking at the Illinois tax form instructions (downloaded PDFs), I can not figure out where any information for the Federal Schedule A is placed on any of the Illinois 1040 form. Their Schedule M does not seem to allow for such info.

I have $5000 worth of expenses that I desire to no pay state tax on 😕

Assistance is very appreciated.

If someone is using tax S/W (not online), or has previous filed, the answer may be jump out.

This being a pure state tax question, it should not be in the stickied thread at the top of OT

/edit
I am considering using Schedule M - Line 6 as a US Form 2106 equivalent

I know waggie is from the Illinois area and there are others also. At least one should be in the 1040/schedule A situation.

that thread is not for questions about state taxes. :colbert:
says who!?!? :x

okay, moving on. This thread is not intended to:

-answer state tax questions. Sorry folks, states are their own beasts. They all have different rules and regs, heck 7 states don't even have income taxes. We are not about to keep up with 43 different state codifications. Therefore, we won't be answering specific state questions. The best way to get an answer for a state question is to call up the state treasury or revenue dept.
