It might shock you but I think he should have stepped down and an interem appointed in his place. But don't pretend its unique to Democrats. David Vitter stayed in office while Elliot Spitzer resigned. So much for ethics discussion based on party

He has every right to run again but being incapacitated for this long he should have stepped down.

He wanted to be able to control the seat when he does step down.

When Dems get caught with hookers they do the respectable thing and resign.

Of course, Rep. Reynolds (another Illinois Democrat who held JJ Jr.'s seat before him - are we sensing a trend?) wasn't caught with a hooker, he was caught sexually abusing a child. Despite being criminally-charged, he still ran for re-election. And won. :rolleyes:

Some voters are like my dog - she just follows whoever's dropping the most crumbs.
