From the article: "While tolls have increased for those that don’t use I-PASS, the increase is the first hike in 28 years in the base rate paid by 75 percent of all tollway drivers"

This makes me think "about time". Much has changed in 28 years. No increases?

Without knowing anything about the subject, I'd be willing to bet a dollar that most drivers pay the "base rate" pulse something else.

IL is broke, just like CA, just like every other liberal controlled state. So they raise taxes and fees and are shocked when their "revenue" still decreases.

It's a documentation of the absolute failure of the liberal mindset and policy. Let us document it and hope others can learn. This mentality has proven failure all over the world, and yet the liberal still maintains it's a good idea in spite of facts and basic freaking economics.

Wisconsin was facing a financial disaster and it wasn't until conservatives got control of the state that the future seems brighter.

You are aware that KY takes in more federal dollars then it gives right? You live in a state that sucks in money from more worthwhile states and complain about their economy. While IL only gets 75 cents back on each dollar.

I guess the failure of the liberal states is allowing money to be sent to states like yours instead of being invested in their own.

As I've demonstrated before, there are only two ways to fix this problem:

1) Lower federal taxes on the rich and on corporations.

2) Raise federal taxes on the middle/lower class.

You don't seem to like the fact that states with a lot of upper-income taxpayers are sending money to states with more lower-income non-taxpayers... so fix it.

You only get charged more if you have extra axles. Unless we have a lot of semi drivers in here we're all pretty much paying the base IPASS rate (which is pretty damn low).

Then you're not a conservative - it is plain as day how conservative politicians do things.

Man... don't you guys feel like idiots then?

Despite President Obama’s long history of criticizing the Bush administration for “sweetheart deals” with favored contractors, the Obama administration this month awarded a $25 million federal contract for work in Afghanistan to a company owned by a Democratic campaign contributor without entertaining competitive bids, Fox News has learned.

The contract, awarded on Jan. 4 to Checchi & Company Consulting, Inc., a Washington-based firm owned by economist and Democratic donor Vincent V. Checchi, will pay the firm $24,673,427 to provide “rule of law stabilization services” in war-torn Afghanistan.

A synopsis of the contract published on the USAID Web site says Checchi & Company will “train the next generation of legal professionals” throughout the Afghan provinces and thereby “develop the capacity of Afghanistan’s justice system to be accessible, reliable, and fair.”

The legality of the arrangement as a “sole source,” or no-bid, contract was made possible by virtue of a waiver signed by the USAID administrator. “They cancelled the open bid on this when they came to power earlier this year,” a source familiar with the federal contracting process told Fox News.

“That’s kind of weird,” said another source, who has worked on “rule of law” issues in both Afghanistan and Iraq, about the no-bid contract to Checchi & Company. “There’s lots of companies and non-governmental organizations that do this sort of work.”

oh yeah. not to mention in IL commonwealth Edison is trying to get a "smart grid" installed. its nothing new really but if they do it they can raise rates something like 26% every year without going to the board. if it pass's it removes many safeguards for the buyer.

its a joke and be very bad IF it passes. quinn has said he will veto that. but lets see what really happens.

considering the toll was supposed to go away after about 10 years, it staying the same isnt much of a win.
