But our retard Governor can still find a way to give hefty raises to his staff.

Unreal.

Whats even more unreal is this clown is only polling 4 points behind his Republican opponent. If Quinn somehow wins re-election I have lost all hope in this shitty state. So many blind (D) followers here, especially in Chicago, Quinn could do just about everything in his power to fuck this state over(he seems to be trying) and he still has a chance to be re-elected.

Worried about a furlough, government boy?

Illinois state employees are getting big raises...7% and another 7%...

http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/news/metro/illinois-state-workers-payraises-20100706

They sure are. Lets see if we can figure out why.

Pat Quinn/Illinois legislature = Solid (D)

From your article:

"Springfield, Ill. - More than 40,000 unionized state workersgot a pay raise last Thursday, bringing to 7 percent the amount they're gotten since last year. These same state employees are in line for another 7 percent by next July 1, all at a cost of a half-billion tax dollars a year."

I think I figured it out.

I wonder when they have to do 2010 tax refunds in 2011, how they're going to handle that. IOU's? Have they even caught up at this point to paying all the people they've owed for like months?

Apperantly the Illinois General Assembly (IGA) sent a budget to Quinn that was 3.7 short on funding.

Where exactly does this rabbit hole lead?

"On May 25, 2010, the Illinois General Assembly shirked their duties by passing an unbalanced budget - adding $3.7 billion in new debt that will be passed on to our children and grandchildren! This new debt adds to our current $13 billion deficit and doesn’t even begin to address the $80 billion plus in unfunded pension liabilities or the billions of dollars in unfunded Medicaid liabilities."

P.S. Not trying to change the thread topic/direction, I'm only posting that because if we're that F'd already, all raises and bonuses should be frozen indefinitely until a fiscally sound plan to address our shortfalls has been implemented.

I agree nobody should be getting raises right now. Something about government unions doesn't sit well with me and I am pretty liberal.

There are 25 million people in Texas, and 13 million people in Illinois.

When you divide the monthly state payroll by the number of citizens:

Texas: $4,572.73 per citizen
Illinois: $4,555.06 per citizen

I'd call it a tie.

If 25-30% get a 7% raise, what do the other 70-75% of state employees get?

laid off probably. THe 7% raise is probably why he jumped with 4 points, he was at 7 behind. This is really a blagodouche deal, but as

that fact that D governor is polling behind a R in IL was unthinkable 8 years ago thanks to that crook jagoff George Ryan

too bad the D's in chicago are far worse of crooks.

I am not a huge fan of Bill Brady. I find his view on abortion stupid, his anti gay rhetoric idiotic. I cant decide if he beleives it or is pandering to the religious right for votes like most R's do.

Hes pretty gov't be more hands off on lots of personal issues, and some people HATE THAT.

EDIT:

hes sort of a right wing wacko acutally, hes pro intelligent design

Hes pro CCW, and my firm belief that his other views are far enough out there that it makes him harmless in those respects means I might think about voting for him.

CCW is basically a guarentee if he gets into office.......
