1/3 of the nations population is concentrated in the 20 largest metropolitan areas in the USA. They are giant welfare magnets, with huge numbers of of people living in poverty. I guarantee that there is very little conservative principles at work in these areas. Why don't you show me how conservatives exploit these areas for political gain and how they are responsible for the woes of 1/3 of our population?

Have you contemplated the effect that foreign outsourcing, foreign work visas, and mass immigration have had on the American labor market? Those policies are all things that free market dogmatists, be they liberal or conservative, would support and advocate. It's not just big cities that are fucked up, many small conservative blue collar towns in Ohio are a mess too.

Basically, when there are no longer any middle class or lower-middle class jobs for Americans to work, they can no longer pay the taxes that the state and city needs to fund its programs and the people's need for such programs increases.

Many of the jobs that people might have otherwise worked--both blue collar and white collar--were shipped overseas. Many jobs are being filled by foreigners on H-1B and L-1 visas. Then a swarm of immigrants, both legal and illegal, have entered the country to work even more jobs that Americans might work and to depress wages. They also need government services, so the number of people who need government services has increased while the number of jobs for them has decreased.

It's really not that fucking hard to understand.

Illinois is still screwed up because of the Blagojevich (sp?) indictments. There is a ton of state money tied up in audits and frozen. The dept of education is having a hell of a time over there keeping the teachers paid and the schools open.

That is the reason for the property tax change recently.

the other reason it is so behind sending out money is that they laid a ton of people off to lower the bottom line, and now there twice as much work as there is time in the day for the employees. I am told that the state capitol building is practically empty on a business day there are so many offices of just piled up paperwork and no one to process it

I guess not. Why don't you explain it to us and explain how economic gravity combined with real capitalism would lead to economic prosperity and a high standard of living and good quality of life for Americans.

Edit: Keep in mind while you are explaining it to me that these are all nearly solid Blue[/i] areas.

You get to go first.

What's sad is that while they have good positions on some issues, they don't have a clue as to how the application of free market principles to international trade and immigration are bringing down the nation's economy; they don't realize that many of their ideas are heavily responsible for our nation's problems.

You still don't get it, do you? Big government IS big business and has no intention of changing the rules of the game while they're winning. Big government is usurping control (which is what this all about: power) because of exactly those issues you blame on the right. You're a pawn, and you've bought the big government leftist propaganda hook line and sinker.

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to say.

I agree that our government's economic policies are awful and that our government is very much responsible for jobs going overseas and for the work visas and for immigration and for many of our other problems.

What parts of "big government" do you take issue with?
