Illegal to copy Orange Box DVD?

I was stupid. Impulse buys for the lose.

I have HL2 already. All I wanted was TF2, but I bought the whole package because SOMEONE kept telling me Portal was worth it. I really just wanted TF2, and if I bought TF2 I could've finally bought DOD:S and spent less total still.

Oh well.

My HL2 was on CDs (5 CDs) and I dreaded that installation process. Yeah I could download from Steam, but it's still nice to have a hard copy of the game.

My friend who convinced me to buy Orange Box was smart enough to buy it somewhere else to get the DVD. Would it be illegal for him to make a copy of Orange Box for me so I can just have a DVD on hand?

Just run a Steam backup of the games you want saved. It puts it into self-executable files that you can choose the size to fit on DVDs. Very convenient for making backups of your steam games.

Someone... As in, everyone?? Portal is worth the price of the Orange Box alone. Its an outstanding game.

Not to mention importing the portal gun into HL2 is fun as hell.

illegal or not, who cares. you already own the rights to those games, so just getting another method to play those games using YOUR key is fine.
