Illegal Operation error when I go to create a new folder

Hi.

I have a problem with Windows locking up and giving me an illegal error message whenever I go to try and create a new folder. I have no idea how to fix this other than install Windows over. Any ideas?

The only thing that has changed in the last couple of weeks is adding Spybot Search and Destroy, but I can't see this affecting Windows at all. At least not affecting the creation of a new folder.

TIA,

Sal

It says that Explorer causes an invalid page fault in SHD0C401.DLL

I've tried searching google for this DLL file and I'm not pulling up anything.

Make sure you allow the search feature to find hidden and system files.

btw the most obvious question is have you rebooted?
If you have do you have any AV software running?

I had this nice problem with McAffee in WinXp where everytime I opened up windows explorer it would crash explorer.exe

A known issue on their website and their fix didnt work. I had to download some freebie AV software.

Yes. All the files are visible. I've tried rebooting and I'm running A/V software. Why would A/V software have anything to do with trying to create a new folder in Windows Explorer when it didn't prior to a week ago?

BTW.. I'm running Norton Antivirus and using Windows 98SE. Everything has been working just fine for a year and then all of a sudden, I'm having issues.
