There was no package at the door when she left at that point. How long will it take to get this straightened out? I've only got till the 30th to get the UPC bar code off this memory stick for a rebate. Should I contact Buy.Com and tell them the story? They're the ones who picked this carrier.

I've frequently had packages show up as delivered before they actually arrive (multiple carriers).

Give it a while, the driver will likely show up.

It was listed as delivered at 1:45PM and it is currently 6:30PM. I've looked at least once per hour, but no dice. Shoot, how are these issues resolved, and how long will it take? I ought to drop this in Buy.Com's lap instead of fretting about it myself.

they all suck equally. Having worked on the floor for both UPS and RPS (fedex ground i think?), I can tell you all that it really doesn't matter. They all have the exact same process for delivering, it just depends on your "thrower", the guy who loads/unloads the truck that your package happens to be on.

Pretty much, although the unloaders damage 10x more packages than loaders do.

I think you should stop over-dramatizing a problem that will be rectified shortly. Personally, you are worrying about this WAY too much. It will be delivered tomorrow or the next day. Accidental scans happen.

When I ordered my dj equipment from pro sound & stage lighting (in california, I'm in minnesota) they used UPS to ship their products... I recieved a lot of banged up boxes, (and this is all very expensive equipment)... fortunately nothing but one of my yamaha speakers was severely damaged (which PSSL took care of)

I recently ordered a couple of more things from them.. and they switched to fedex... why? because fedex actually takes care of the packages... newegg chooses fedex too, and there's a reason for that...

Call 1-800-PICK-UPS, go through the menus to get to a customer rep, tell them your package says delivered but that it is no where in sight. They'll ask for the tracking number, you'll give it to them, they'll talk to the supervisor and the driver tomorrow. If your package is still MIA then, they will call you back and you will file a claim which will take 3-5 days. However, the claim will be paid to Buy.com (the shipper), so you need to contact them about it too. Then, you will order a new one and hope that the original shows up as well.. 2 for 1.

Because they struck a better deal with Fedex than UPS? There really is no difference between Fedex and UPS. They both have the same policies and sorting mechanisms and procedures. Most people have a bias, as they only see the packages that they personally receive. Millions of packages are delivered everyday that have no damage. 99% of damaged packages are caused by: you guessed it, sh!tty packaging. There's a reason that all major shippers require atleast 2" of packaging on each side of an item.. you can't expect them to gently walk from up and down the truck when unloading your packages.. time = money.

Summary: Order from places based on how well they package items, not on which carrier they use.

I've only had one problem with UPS, I had a package of jewel cases dropped by the driver (he actually admitted this to me, and I looked for any damage before signing)

Fedex however, one package said "out for delivery" and it wasn't even on the right truck (it was actually counted as the first delivery attempt too)

now fedex ground is different as well, they've left 2 packages sitting out by my mailbox (which is inside the building, but is insecure and I have had people (college students more than likely) go through my rebate envelopes looking for cash.)

Luckily those packages were found by me and nothing had been done to them, should they have been stolen however would probably have no recourse, according to tracking records it was delivered and signed by "frontdoor" (I do NOT have a wavier with any shipping company.)

Package just arrived, but I didn't see the driver. Tried to check the tracking info, but I got this:
  • We are unable to connect you with our server. Please retry later.
Oh well, guess I'll let them live...
