Ok first off my mobo is the dfi nf4 ultra-d and here's my Q, I'm trying to decide on what type of ram I should get to play games with and I've got about $250 to spend (don't have to spend it all). I've been looking at some corsair, mushkin, kingston, patriot, pqi, ocz, and geil. Also is TCCD all that it's cracked up to be. All of your suggestions would be greatfull

Thanks.

don't get corsair, I hate mine.

I have been reading that g.skill seems to have some pretty good value ram, and some damn good pc4400 tccd for about ~225-250. TCCD seems to be some pretty good stuff, I have no experience with it though.

Kingmax 1GB kit for under $90 shipped after rebate. All of the expensive ram offers little gain. I should know....I had a gig of ocz TCCD and returned it. Spend the rest on a better video card, psu, larger HDD, faster cpu, etc.

yeah, like John said, if you're not a bleeding edge user, then you might not feel the performace gain by a much more expenssive RAM (I know I'm getting flamed for that now...)
I'd go with mainstream - not too crappy, and not too expenssive.

Edit: fixed a typo

I would personally get if your not OCing something like Crucial Kingston ValuRam or Corsair ValuRam then I would get better parts for you computer.

I second what others have said about avoiding expensive RAM. Tighter timings might increase your benchmarks by 10% (or less). But that same money spent on a better processor would do wonders.

You spend money on expensive RAM once you already have the top-of-the-line processor and vid card.

I got the TwinMOS, obviously that is what I'd do, especially if you have a DFI that can volt it up, though most of the other suggestions for memory in the lower price ranges are decent suggestions as well, you simply do not need to spend big bucks on memory anymore (which is something I've been touting since well before Zebo did his memory matrix)

I would personally avoid the Kingmax, I have had 5 sticks of Kingmax and 3 of them didn't even perform up to specs (had to relax memory timings on one stick and one pair didn't run in dual channel unless I ran 2T CMD rate). Kingmax "lifetime warrantee" was ZERO help because they wouldn't respond to my requests for service. I eventually cut my losses, sold them to other people (with full disclosure of what they would and would not do, of course), and got different RAM. They were not the exact same Kingmax linked in this thread.
