I'll be the one to post the thread on the obvious...It's pretty sad to see the AMD fanbois behaving exactly like their..

Why?, i'm hoping to nip in the bud some of the more ridiculous comments i've seen about Conroe before they get more of a foothold...

He is literally the only person who has had a problem in this thread until you came along ;)

Discussion about CPU''s and Microprocessors. Need help with that new CPU? Like to push it to the limits; overclockers welcome here!

Placing it here is flame bait, and no better than the "fanbois" you're criticizing.

I think this topic belongs here.

It is still about cpu's even though the subject line might be flamebait to some degree...

This isn't a discussion about CPU's... it's an inflamatory post designed to put down certain people. The OP can dance around it all he wants... the underlying intent is...

"hey guys... look how stupid these other guys are"
"yeah, they're stupid"
"lets get 'em!"

Seems to me the only person who's trolling/causing trouble/has a problem in this thread is you mate ;)

So you sent me a PM saying this... then you post it again here. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? If you'd rather chat in PM, just send me a PM. If you feel the need to make it publicly known that you don't like my response, why send me a PM?

I assumed you weren't planning to reply when i posted here, & i thought i may as well defend myself publicly

You waited three WHOLE minutes from the time you sent me a PM till you posted this here...

i got distracted in my attempts to log into the new TFNN forums, came back, no PM, thought ****** it, i'll post in the thread anyway

that is all.

But really, if it's such a problem, PM a mod with you concerns asking it to be deleted. Most people in the thread don't seem to have a problem with it, but if you feel your minority views are the ones that matter, so be it.

No skin off my nose ;)

Well, there may be too many AMD fans here but, don't head over to Toms. Its a hell of a lot worse over there. That's why i'm here.

dug: No way. I'm %100 against censoring unless its absolutley necessary. I just see this thread as a bit of bait for those who you're making fun of; others may not but I do.

And in my opinion theres a lot of stupidity from the AMD and Intel supporters right now. About the only people who are acting smart are the 'wait and see' people.

It's strange really, while AMD was (and still is until these parts ship) on top, everyone insisted that they weren't AMD fanboys, they were just chasing the top performing or best bang/buck CPU (which in both cases was true, and often one AMD chip filled both categories ;)). I suspect that some of that may have translated into people developing some brand loyalty to AMD (as would be expected, but they spent the last three years telling intel fanboys that brand loyalty=fanboyism...which it essentially is), and it will take a while for the pendulum to swing the other way now...

:head asplodes:

;)

I feel it's less making fun of & more, goddamn it do we really need to do this again? ;)

But i can see how you could come to that conclusion...

The thread has nothing to do with the CPU's themselves. It's all about who's a fanboi and why and how they shouldn't be fanbois. The forums description is,
Discussion about CPU''s and Microprocessors. Need help with that new CPU? Like to push it to the limits; overclockers welcome here!

This, this, this, this, and this are valid dicsussions about the processors and the "review" of them. Calling out the "fanbois" to tell them how ridiculous they are doesn't seem to fit the forum description.

Yeah, there's nothing we can do until the new generation chips come out. Its non sense IMO. The funny thing is, I use AMD. But I also use Intel

When conroe comes out and if it is much better than the comparative AMD offerings whilst being competitively priced I imagine most of the so called anandtech AMD 'fanbois' will be become Intel 'fanbois' (or be perceived that way anyway).

There's a reason why most people on here are perceived by others to be AMD 'fanbois', and that's because currently AMD are producing the best product.

If you are a mod, ban Dug, delete the posts, move the topic. If you are not, do not tell him what to do or where to post. Thank you.

Exactly.

Also i dont think its fanboyism to demand more proof about new products performance.

i think if we all belived blindly what marketing tells us we would all be with intel P-d's, and those perfomance figures of conroe are marketing, i'm sure its should be faster, but untill i see some unbiased third party source test it, i will take intels or amds benchmarks with a grain of salt.

No, we'd all have Powermac G5's with dual 2.7 GHz processors. :D

Or maybe we would all die of the paradox of how was it possible to have each one better than the other and worse at the same time. :p

Yea all these posts about conroe should stop, i mean its comming in 6 months, thats a hell of a long time.
We got a taste of what performance it POSSIBLY COULD bring now lets just forget about it till it comes out. The only way it could effect people on when they should upgrade is when there is like 3 weeks left before it comes out, otherwise whats the point of waiting for 6 months, and its not like suddenly ur X2 or P-D will be obsolete, sure it wont be the fastest there is.

It's a very short time in the CPU world tho...architectures take years to revise (intel knew they were hammered with prescott long ago, and it's taken them, with a huge r&d budget, this long to get conroe/merom up & running. Unless AMD had a serious architecture revision planned for the next 6 months (and it looks like AM2 will not be it from all accounts) then they cannot possibly slap a few hasty changes on in that time...

I beg to differ, I believe 6 months is a LONG time in CPU world. I mean seriously, if PC's are considered outdated in 18 months, then 6 months is just 33% of the way there... so yeah, of course Conroe will be 33% faster when it's released in 6 months! It HAS to be, to keep our systems outdating in the right timeframe!

Yea but we still dont know what kind of clocks or advantages athlons will be able to achieve with the die shrink, maybe stakes will reverse with amd needing high clocks to catch up to intel, Which would be quite ironic :p.

Cpus havent changed much in the last few years, my 18 months old p4 can still perform very well compared to my new rigs. I guess a lot of people are skeptical of the results cause this kind of jump in performance has not been seen for a while.

Cpus have a much longer design cycle than gpus, as gpus are basicaly hightly parralell, where 1 pipeline is duplicated 24 times in the case of 7800gtx, for cpus i think it is more different as there is not much replication envolved.

They are fanbois... what can ya do? Theyre like the more technologically inclined version of your average football fan, pick a damn team and stick with it!
