The Senate vote was 59-0.

Moments after removing him from office, the Illinois Senate also voted unanimously to prevent Blagojevich from ever holding political office in the state again.

I'm glad they also took the time to make sure he never holds public office in Illinois ever again.

When I am president I am going to go back in time and fire him the day this happened. It's retarded how long it took. The guy is a crook if there ever was one.

Good riddance. Make examples! Dems and Repugs alike need to actually fear the hand of the law, and behave themselves accordingly. I hope this douche ends up serving time, perhaps in mental ward.

Too bad we don't have the collective fortitude to apply this kind of justice to all aspects and branches of government.

They had to legally bar him because the voters of Illinois (mostly Cook County) have classic poor taste in politicians and the Chicago/CC folks tend to go for the criminals, especially the Machine criminals. It also prevents his pals from hiring him back into the system.

Next up: Expect the announcement of an especially grave Illinois financial crisis (all belonging to Blago, of course), then the legislature will do a massive tax hike, Quinn will sign it, assuring his political demise (he doesn't really want to be Gov, he's said so in the past), Lisa Madigan (ATTY General, but more importantly, Mike Madigan's daughter) will run and win the Governor seat in the next election.

Well I predict Blogo will make the round of talks shows for another 15 days of fame, and then one day it will dawn on him, he is no longer Illinois Governor. And then try the same stunt on Federal Prosecutors, and when he finally wakes up one morning in the Slammer facing a long sentence, he may finally wake up to reality.

Those FBI tapes of him really killed him dead, denial of reality is the last refuge of idiots.

He sure told them Illinois Senators off, "you can't do this to me", such an inspiring argument that 59-0, that they showed they could and did give him the ole heace ho.

Politically he's dead, but I am not sure he's gonna be convicted of anything in criminal court. I mean he talked sh!t on the phone, but he didn't actually go to pick up any money or do anything to follow up on the talk with action.

There are laws that dont require actual action. Intent is all that is necessary.

Based on recorded evidence he'll be convicted on some sort of conspiracy charge.

Seems to be DEMOCRATS lately. Republicans just like their gay sex. Democrats seem to be the ones that like to engage to pay to play.

hey, the New York State republican leader was just indicted for fraud and corruption.

I didn't create a thread about it because, you know, who cares, but man, stop being such a hack.

Congratulations on not being a partisan hack.

Wow... Pot, Kettle. Kettle, Pot.

I don't know what else to say other than the party in charge is going to rack up the most indictments. What a sad commentary on American politics. Not five minutes after the Dems rule the world, there's suddenly corruption in the party. What a wild coinkidink...

When are we all going to become adults and realize that the two major parties don't give a flying fuck about any of us or why we voted for them?

I predict that in the next 24 months, the Dems will be just as disillusioned by their party as the Rs were about five years ago.

God we suck

Don't be so hard on either party. The vast majority of them are smart enough not to get caught. Rob ( Gandhi Mandela) Blagojevich just wasn't smart enough.

You and I agree. I think Obama will be smart enough to keep his corruption under wraps.

Can someone explain to me why he wasn't allowed to have anyone testify for him?

He was allowed to testify, he chose not to.

You answered his question wrong.....

People were allowed to testify for him, what wasn't allowed was Blag to supeonna anyone to testify for him. In other words if on your own free will you wanted to testify for this ass you were allowed, but you couldn't be forced to.
