Visited this store last night. How have I missed this awesome store for so long? I can foresee spending waaay too much money there. My wife has already decided we're redoing the kitchen now.

IKEA is a great place! I have noticed though that some designs they have are very hit or miss, but the hits are great.

Careful when you start building your stuff, the light pine will damage very easily

Some of the particle board stuff works well but doesn't survive moves well.

We've got a bunch of the book cases, some chairs, tables, and a kitchen island from them. The island is great, nice solid butcherblock top. The thing is much more heavily built than the majority of stuff there.

We did have an issue right after we got the island where the butcherblock had the wood come apart just under the surface, this tiny little bubble formed. We took it back and they gave us a whole brand new one without any trouble at all. My wife was grumpy that we had to assemble it all again though 😉

Ikea stuff is very hit or miss... They have some really thing horrible particle board stuff that needs to be glued together to last longer than a year or so, and they have some quality solid wood pieces too.

I like the poang chairs

I agree. In my last 2 years of college, I had a Malm bed - solidly constructed frame (and it was at least 3 years old when I had purchased it; still great when I sold it this past June). The Ikea desk I had was a piece of crap. I'm surprised it didn't collapse on me in the two years I had it.

The meatballs are fucking awesome

NOT this. What kind of crap do you guys eat usually to call this awesome?

Most of the stuff people buy from this place is trash - may look good, but made like crap. It's true that they sell some comparatively decent stuff in there, but at that level there's competition elsewhere.
