Took kid to the Ikea store today to get her a chair to practice bassoon in (she's particular as hell and I thought I'd let her sit in a thousand chairs :D )

IKEA is amazing, I could spend a week there...

It's not high quality stuff, but it's a fair price and an awesome selection.

Agreed, it's pretty cool even just walking around with nothing in particular that you are looking for.

I have one about 5 mins from my apartment now. When I moved in a few weeks ago I went there and dropped like 600-700. Everything in my apartment is basically ikea aside from a couch and bed. And I think it looks pimp.

Ya, love going there, even though it's nearly the same crap every visit. Good price, but this particle board laminate stuff is starting to get to me...

why I think ikea is NOT cool:

a.) spend all day looking at millions of crap, get tired
b.) once you decide what all you wanted, you have to go to the massive warehouse next to the show room and get the parts yourself
c.) once you get it all and now you're tired as hell, ya have to load all the crap yourself
d.) by some miracle, you survive all this, you still have to unload all the stuff and carry it into your house
e.) think you're done? no, now you have to put it all together.
f.) once you realize this, you shop at rooms to go and they set everything up for you, you only lift you fingers to sign the papers :p

IKEA is a nice place, especially if you need something for your apt but don't want to spend a whole lot of cash. The only thing I hate is having to load the stuff, as I nearly killed my back the last time I went there.

I went there to see what all the hype was about. IMO it looks cheap, and I actually knocked on one of the shelves on a hunch. Yep, the shelves were hollow. Hollow pressed-wood at that. Pretty much turned me off. Also, it's a one path track, so I couldn't just leave. I had to walk all the way around the store just to get to the exit when I was (in a straight line) about 100 ft away. :frown:

IKEA FTL.
