I was forced to go to IKEA over the weekend and it struck me just how low to the ground everything was. I saw a TV 'stand' that was littereally 1' high - I measured.

Do people like furniture this low to the ground? I personally don't think I could stand it

So based off a TV stand you are assuming all their furniture is small? Its made for apartment living and apartments or small so I'm not surprised by a 1' stand but from my experience most there is a good size. I'm a 6' guy and have a couple pieces of ikea furniture (chair and desk) and it all works out great for me.

And I use a milk crate for a TV stand...one way its only 1' off the ground by the other way its almost 2' 😀 and MUCH cheaper than the ikea version

You want your TV stand low. We bought a 3 foot high TV cabinet from IKEA, and it's a strain on our necks cause we usually sit on the carpet when watching.

Lie back on a couch and you'll probably prefer to look down, straight across than up.

I hardly said that was my only sample size - it was just an example. I got in and out of several of their couches and noticed that even their bedroom sets seemed shoter than ours (obvisoulsy the bed springs were missing as well but I know one of the under the bed storage devices we have would not fit under most/all of their sets)

That's the trendy design to fit low and sleek to the ground. It's not meant to be an Ashley Furniture or Rooms to Go competitor in terms of "normal older" furniture.

PS, it's probably an inch off the ground because TV's are meant to be eye level to the center of the screen. My IKEA tv stand had a support stand to raise it up off the ground about 4-6 inches, but that would have put it too high with my current couch.
