Ikaruga for XBLA 4/9/08

One of the better shooters ever available tomorrow on LIVE. Didn't see it mentioned here yet. I know the GC version is pretty hard to find and if you do find it you will more than likely have to pay more than $10 for it.

Oh man, I played this for hours on end on my dreamcast (imported a real copy...i loooooooooooooooooooooved it). Now if only my university would stop blocking XBL's ports ;( This one is a hot deal at any price if it remains faithful to the original and retains the option of inverting the screen so you can do a vertical mounted lcd for some arcade nirvana

Enjoy getting your asses kicked. I've got a GC copy myself. I think the furthest I ever made it to was Stage 3 with the big rotating circle of death that you have to fly inside (boss). I need to get back to it at some point, can't say I put enough time into it to expect to get past Stage 3. I was at a point where I could get there pretty easily but then I'd just magically get my ass handed to me without question.

I passed stage 3 boss once and got destroyed on the next level. I was able to sell my GC copy a year ago for like $70! I really couldn't believe people were paying that much.

This is gonna be really nice in hi-def - wonder if there will be slowdown.

Definitely buying this. Only played the DC version for a bit and found it really freakin hard but for 10 bones I'll give it a whirl and take on that challenge.

faithful reproduction including screen inversion. sounds as if I will have to skip this version too. just too difficult for my liking.

Great game. It is tough, but if you practice, it is a lot of fun. I think I got all the way to level 3 without shooting once (you absorb and then use the special attack instead of shooting). I think the farthest I ever made it was to the start of the last level (I think there are 6 levels).

Yup. After you beat stage 3 it's GGPO.

Yes. It offers offline, online, and system link co-op.

Downloaded the trial, and I liked it a lot. Definitely worth a look, although it's pretty difficult.

The third boss makes me cry. I can't see a damn thing in that mess of bullets and I have no clue how I'm dying. I wish I had a 60in screen or something..lol I'm freakin blind.

That game is brutal. I made it stage 3, on the GC.

If you like shooters this should be a no-brainer.

Wow, that game is actually rather fun (when I figured out the keys... still don't know what the special attack is). It took me a death or two to get really used to the idea of switching polarities though. The first boss (I only have the trial right now) was pretty nifty... you have to switch quite often on him (or be really, really good at dodging...). It was also kind of interesting because I had to train my mind to sometimes purposely be hit by enemy fire (especially when using a huge beam which was special attack bar++ for me ) and avoid others (opposite polarity obviously).
