IK8FanGui Users, I need assistance

I'm using the app to cool my Dell m1710 because dell is crap and doesn't do it properly.

My question,

If I set the program to do manual fan control and then choose settings it doesn't work. If i choose automatic temp control, and then specify fan speeds and temperature thresholds, it also doesn't work. The only thing the program does for me is set the fans to the highest speed if I click that radio button.

Does anyone else have this problem? I want some medium fan speeds, not this all or nothing.

Very brave...

I had to disable "hardware sensor support" in options/tempControl to get auto to work in i8kfangui31 in an e1705. Don't know why, but this works and haven't bothered to figure the other out. Most of the other modes didn't work and usually require a reboot to get auto working again. I imagine we should feel lucky that any fan control is possible in a dell.

Looking around and found that options/statusReading didn't have all the "Internal sensor data" options checked. Checking them all caused the 7900gs fan to start up for about 10 secs and then slow down.

Also noticed another "hardware sensor support" in options/directFanControl - disabling this might allow manual mode to work.

All of my internal sensor data checkboxes were checked, however disabling "hardware sensor support" in the options/directFanControl tab has caused my manual fan control to work.

Thanks for taking the time to help me.
