I have the LCD now and it is great! (Tip of the day...change your resolution to something the LCD supports before you unplug your old monitor. They you can boot with the LCD and change to the optimal 1270X1024.

20 ms response, 500:1 contrast. It will support my gaming and work habit. Love it so far.

IIRC, the Dell 1900fp has 500:1

there was a deal a few weeks back for the 1900fp for under $600.

eh... less than 50 posts, but i use the f@twallet and post a whole lot more on there, this is the only one with a thread though, i dunno.. joe promised me the newest model which has the 20 ms response time along with a 500:1 contrast ratio, i've been shopping around for an LCD for a while now and was about to go with a samsung 171S when i read the reviews on the iiyama, only problem is iiyama distribution sucks... joe told me they don't do direct sales but he goes through a reseller out of jersey, promised me the price that he gave to gary shipped so hopefully it will be here sometime next week, monday or tuesday as promised

Iiyamas make great CRT, but I do not know about their LCD monitors.

Edit: and thinking about this a little more... what the hell is going on? Why is he going to sell them for so cheap? Why isn't there advertising? Seems shady to me.

I was thinking the same thing. They focus mainly on the corporate world. They are huge in Europe--hence Tom's HW love for their monitors.

Joe is out of PA but the distibutor is out of Jersey. They do not advertise currently to the mainstream market since they, agian, have been focussing on the corp world.

And yes, I am a Junior member becuase I just started using anandtech (which is an awesome site).

Ultimately, do you due diligence. I did. And eveything that I found lined up and my monitor arrived in 2 days and so far it has been great!

I wasn't able to find it for sale on Iiyama's outlet store. The only 17 inch LCDs they have for sale are the Pro Lite 4431, 4314, and 4315.

None of those model numbers have a 500:1 contrast ratio.

Also, does it include the Iiyama 3 year warranty?

the 4314 model comes in a newer revision, just make sure when ordering to state you want to the newer revision

Yes you have the 3 year warranty.

Joe also spoke to an engineer who indicated that all the stock is of the newer variant. I had the same concerns per the Tom's review.
