IIS Error - SAM in wrong state

The security account manager (SAM) or local security authority (LSA) server was in the wrong state to perform the security operation.

Hit the IIS 5.0 website and got this error message temporarily. Anyone seen this? Too lozy to hunt google for potentially mis-leading info. 😀

The only thing I could find that would generate this error is if you try to enable the Kerberos Key Distribution Center (KDC) service on a member server (non-domain controller).

I would love to help but I just spent the day talking to MS tech-support regarding a crazy DCOM issue that is crashing two of our servers 🙁

Hmm... it was a default install of Active Directory, Exchange 2000, and that is about it. No extra services were enabled manually.

Yah, it as a lonesome DC. When I hit the site from zee web browser on my PC, which is on the same switch, same network, etc.

To be honest, it was about 1.49 seconds 🙂 into a reboot instruction (just from the start menu). Maybe I found a hole. 😀

Yeah, sounds like just a glitch. I dunno if I would run a webserver on a DC though. E2k either. But that's up to you

If its a testbed, ignore my previous advice 😉

I realize OWA needs a webserver, but you dont usually install OWA on a domain controller. OWA is usually placed in a DMZ, which is the last place you want your DCs.
