Sort of, but if your auction says in huge letters "This is for an empty box." Then, well..... you warned them.

It's about like going up to someone with a big bag that has "$1,000,000" written on it, and say "This bag is empty. Will you give me $500 for it?" If they say yes, fine. They'd just better not be disappointed when they open the bag and don't find a million dollars.
You told them plain and simple that it wasn't what it looked like, but they still bought it anyway.
"A fool and his money are soon parted."

That said, such information, like the IHS auctions, should be very easily visible and understandable. Plenty of people have never heard of a "heatsink" much less a heatspreader.

ROFL... Winning bid: US $371.66
Morons...it has its advantages to read first...

I like the 'nonpaying bidder' feedback, though I think a negative that said 'don't deal with this guy because he is retarded' would be more accurate, as no one could really expect someone to pay that bid once they realized their error. I understand the seller's frustration with likely having to re-list the item.

I do believe that these guys are trying to capatalize on people that can't read or have limited computer knowlege. In cases like these, a simple description should be given rather some Technical terms like IHS or Integrated heat Spreader. Descriptions should have been clear.
The pictures alone are VERY VERY misleading. A lot of people don't even read that carefully and just look at the picture ( i know it's their fault, but by the selling being clear in the first place will save them a lot of trouble and head ache). If I was selling the IHS i would say something like.

"you are bidding on IHS (integrated Heat Spreader), This is the Metal piece on top of CPUs with labeling. THIS IS NOT A PROCESSOR!, just the metal piece that is used to remove heat. Again, this is NOT a processor so bid accordingly"

Then I would take pictures of the IHS out of the dang plastic case, Both sides of the IHS.......

That would be proper and less confusing....and if they still bid to $300, than by God, I deserve that money.

The picture was definitely made to give the appearance of a processor.

It does however look like the auction ended with nobody happy, so that's somthing I suppose.
