So IPod .. yea.

Shows up in My Computer and if you pull up the "Safely Remove Hardware" box it's there as an Apple IPod.

If I open ITunes nothing happens. If I try to update the software, the software updater either doesn't see it or it freezes. I've tried uninstalling it before and reinstalling it. Nothing.

I tried the IPod itself on other peoples PC and it works seamlessly.

It even works on my computer with programs like ISync which sync your contacts list from Outlook with the contacts on your IPod.

Lastly the IPod originally worked with the computer. One day (a very LONG time ago) it stopped and since then I can't update stuff from my own computer. I tried both USB 2.0 and Firewire cables. Nothing. I am begging for help .. so please help.:frown::(

When you say that you have tried reinstalling "it" before, what is the "it"? Did you completely uninstall iTunes AND the iPod itself at the same time, or just one of the two?

If you didn't do both before, do so and make sure you are installing the newest version of iTunes.

Uninstalled IPod hardware, ITunes, things that they left behind, IPod installer, got rid of services ... everything I could think of.

Hmm my I-pod works similar to that, you plug it in and it says "DO NOT DISCONNECT" then when you run I-Tunes it's supposed to update and goto the I-pod desktop. So what exactly are you seeing on your computer / I-Pod?

Does your iPod show up on the iPod tab within the properties pages in iTunes? If so, is it set to automatically sync when connected?

My IPod says "Do Not Disconnect" when it is plugged in. ITunes doesn't recognize it period so there is nothing in the IPod tab when it's plugged in.

Check to make sure ipodservice is running in task manager. If it is, try closing itunes, killing the ipodservice process, then reopening itunes. Sometimes my itunes will start not seeing my ipod, and this always fixes it for me.

Ok I did what you said and this message came up:

The software required for communicating with the IPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall ITunes to install the IPod's software.

So I guess Imma do that and get back to you with what happens.

So last time no IPodservice.exe was running and this time it was. Nothing happens. I guess ITunes thought it wasn't working with the IPod cause the service wasn't running. Now it is and still nothing happens.
