We need more info on that. What does it do? Does it change anything noticable? I cannot just tell you how to fix it without knowing what it is first. Generically speaking, get a virus scanner with updated definitions.

Okay - how do I install the antivirus program?? It simply keeps rebooting my machine so I can't ever get to the OS.. I am running WinME BTW..

Can you describe the virus?

Boot into safe mode and see if it will let you stay up.

Yup, I booted into safe mode and deleted the program I installed that I think cause it to happen.. it stuck something called 'ihateyou' in the startup folder.. then I also deleted the folder that it created too.

The system simply goes in, then while starting up, it still goes to

"Shutting down" .. etc.

Is there somewhere in the registry I can modify while in safe mode to prevent this from happening?

So what should I do? Install Norton Antivirus on my clean machine, create the clean floppy - then try that? I have XP on this machine that I am typing this msg on..

It reboots safe mode?

My advice is to check out Symantec and search for what sounds like this virus. Then download the fix onto a floppy disk, and run it from dos.

..actually i dunno if it is even a virus. It just causes the computer to reboot.. but i noticed it put something called 'Ihateyou' in the registry.. so it just might've been a malicious program someone made?

Sounds like you got something pretty malicious. If its a virus, that website will have it. You could also try reinstalling the OS. It might fix the registry.
