Just when I thought things were (slowly) returning to a sort-of post-pandemic-style "normal" as far as at least GPU availability, and slowly, prices, now THIS! Very disappointing, if GPU pricing shoots back up to 3X MSRP (does MSRP even mean anything anymore? LOL..).

Edit: To be sure, this most recent issue, is with production / distribution, and has nothing (directly) to do with mining.

Exactly this. Which is why I have not been able to pick up a card this generation (as I don't have the free time to stand in line at midnight every day at microcenter hoping to get a card, nor can I be tied to the internet hitting refresh/waiting for an in stock alert to mad scramble to add on to a cart, login and checkout all within 3 minutes of the store deciding to open up the incoming inventory to orders).

Now if sites would just open up waiting lists for purchasing a card, we would all be better off and hundreds of thousands of hours people are wasting looking for cards would suddenly be used for something more productive....

What lies are you talking about? Do you think that some people aren't actually buying GPUs at those prices? People on these forums have said they've paid more than MSRP to buy one online. Do you not believe them?

Most of the burn in issues can be mitigated by keeping the brightness ("OLED Light") under control and using a black screensaver. I keep it down to the minimum on the desktop and only turn it up in games.

LG OLED do some "clean-up/anti-burn in" at night when they are off. However it means you need to keep them in standby and not cut off power to or else it will start asking to do it before you can use it.

i have seen too many people get mugged from "deals" from craig's list.
easy way to bring someone out with 1000 dollars in cash to a random location, especially depending on how desperate they are for the card, and how stupid they were not knowing there is always "something which sounds too good to be true."

People really should know that if you're going to meet anyone to make an exchange it should be done in a public place that's safe, like a mall. It's not as though you're buying drugs or other illicit goods so there's no reason to do it in some back alley, etc.

But $1,000 for a 6900XT? Even if you do get robbed, you're still being taken for less than if you dealt with the scalpers on eBay. 😛

I've arranged local pickups on ebay for some items too large to ship, like monitors and cases. The payment is made in advance so that doesn't seem to be an issue. It doesn't work on craigslist though, too many people waste your time and don't commit.

This is why many police stations setup areas at for such deals. Less likely that someone is going to mug you in the lobby of the station or in a controlled environment where there are monitored cameras and high detailed surveillance setups near-by to a police station or patrolled routes where-in they can respond in less than a few minutes.
