Ignorant Question about Raid

I am planning to upgrade to the Soyo SY-KT333 DRAGON Ultra (Platinum Edition). If a motherboard supports RAID, does that mean you have to use a RAID setup?
 
I use my two raid connections to connect one IDE hard drive on each connector (two 60GB HDDs total)in a non raid configuration and both are masters. Suposed to improve performance.
