Well there you go. Did you think that remark was appropriate?
You over-reacted. Tell everyone you don't like reading such comments, and if they are your friends, they will respect your views.
There is a difference when approaching someone with "I do not like seeing the n-word, and prefer it not be used within my fantasy football league" and "Fuck You, you ignorant racist FUCK! I fucking HATE you!" One is an appropriate response, while the other is not. And guess which one of you it says more about?
I'll never understand that word. Black people can call each other that term and it's not derogatory or ignorant, but it becomes that way when a 'non-black' person says that to a black person?
The only reason there is racism is because people call attention to it. Leave it alone and everyone is on par. And not for nothing, but its sports...
Yeah, no. It's just plain bullshit. It's an insider vs. outsider thing. A member vs. non-member. That's about as simply as I can explain it to you.
How do you know I overreacted? You don't know the response I had with them? Here, I am pissed and showing my emotions. With them I didn't make a public scene of it. I communicated my feelings about it via private messages.
That said, joking about one's mom or sister is one thing. As I've said. Clearly it was a joke. Calling someone a nagger is not joking - because that shit isn't funny, ever.
I won't be inviting him back next year. Sad thing is another guy just called me about it and tried to defend his actions. *sigh* I just spent the last 15 minutes trying to explain to this guy why shit talking about someone's mom is one thing, but calling someone a n'er is a whole different thing.
