I think the ignition switch needs to be replaced in my 2002 Chevy Malibu, once key is inserted it will not turn to ignite. If this is replaced, do the key(s) need to be replaced as well?

I've tried turning the steering wheel left and right as well to no avail- I did noticed that when I went to shut the ignition off that it did not what to turn to the off position which was odd, I had to wiggle it a bit to shut it off.

From what I've seen with older cars with ignition switches is that you get the keys with the switch if you buy it new.

That is not the ignition switch, that is the lock tumbler.

Yes it will come with new keys but your door and your igintion lock will have different keys now. You migth be able to get a lock smith to adjust it so both are the same. Or see if the dealer cam order one that matchs the factory key.

I have the remote keyless entry so that should remain the same I assume? Is this something I have to take to the dealer to have worked on?
