Except for the part where DayZ servers only handle so many clients at a time. If I were a publisher I'd look to hire the DayZ team stat and make a full on MMO. Zones, instances, whatever it takes to have hundreds/thousands of people on at once.

The problem is there would be too many survivors for it to be fun, also how is death handled?
It would be interesting to make it free or cheap then charge $5 per character then make death permanent. Make everyone have some skin in the game. No Leeroy Jenkins stuff (although he sounds like a cool guy).

Using Z to represent zombies is not unique to DayZ. World War Z, for example was released in 2006.

Not going to lie... this getting announced kept me from buying Arma II. Granted, at the end of the day I might not buy either one. Neither is on my must buy list if they don't turn out good.

Noticed during the steam summer sale that Arma 2 stayed HIGH in the best seller list. Even while it wasn't on sale. And lots of other good games were. For near a couple weeks.

Amazing. Look for zombie MMOs to be the new rage.

already a ton of them.. many are actually pretty fun.. Zombie have ben the rage for awhile.. it just takes months to a year to see products quite often.. it does help DayZ is "hot" right now..

Somebody should have done DayZ in a decent game engine (heck unreal even).. great game, crap interface.

Yep zombies, pirates and ninjas have been the rage forever it seems. However I haven't yet seen a zombie MMO with the attention that DayZ is getting. That will change if someone does it right.
