EDIT - PROBLEM NOW WORSE!!

Having a problem with my ig7.

System hangs on "memory testing" dead on bootup sequence.

No overclocking! Straight 133 x17 (2.26Ghz)

Have tried single corsair stick 256 pc3500, and two kingston 512's pc4000

I am only able to get into windows if I

1) reset bios,
2) reseat the rams in dimms from 1,3 to 2,4 or other way

Once I restart windows, same problem - dead on hang at "memory testing"

Please advise!!

Your thoughts appreciated ;-)

OK

Under advanced bios features change the "Delay IDE Initial" to 0
Set your Hard Disk as the first boot device
Disable "boot up floppy seek"

thanks fred but upon more testing, this seems to be a worse problem than i thought.

Havent been able to get into bios again, tried different memory sticks, problem persists!

Is this a more general problem??

thanks

you think this mobo has probs with a pc 533 chip?

I had a p4 3ghz 800fsb in it a month ago and none of these problems occured!

Going to unplug everything, all usbs etc, and just see what happens...

please advise, thanks ;-)

Its supposed to support the 533fsb. Does it make it through the memory count or does it stop while/before counting. Can you get into the bios yet?

ok found the bug!

problem is caused by booting with any usb devices attached.

When all usb devices are detached, the memory testing delay does NOT occur.

Tried Using bios 16 and 17

Please advise.

What operating system are you using?
Do you have the usb controller enabled under "on chip pci device" in the bios?

problem to date -

on booting - bios hangs for about 1-2 minutes saying

"Memory testing"

then boots slowly to XP

If I detach USB devices it boots in 30 secs without delay.

Solutions anyone??

thanks
