Playstation Blog

Welcome to the first installment of our weekly Bionic Commando: Rearmed column. The folks here at the PlayStation.Blog have been kind enough to give us some space to strut our Bionic stuff. Don?t worry, I promise there will not be an excess of swinger jokes.

To kick off this edition, we?d like to mention some of the ?PSN specific? content that you can expect for Rearmed. There will be Dualshock 3 support, because we all know that games that vibrate are better and besides? there really is no reason not to implement a feature that has become the industry standard. Also, Rearmed is one of the only PSN games to feature Remote Play support. This one wasn?t as easy to add and, matter of fact, there is one point where we had to ?creatively? reprogram the controls to give players the illusion of using 2 sticks (you?ll know when you see it). The classic 2D side-scrolling graphics really fit with the PSP and just make the PSN version all the more cooler.

Of course there is one more VERY cool surprise for those of you who purchase the PSN version? but that is another story for another time.

hmmm i don't understand exactly what they mean.

so you can play the ps3 version of the game on the psp? i have only used the psp connected to my ps3 like one time, and it was pretty pointless but all you could do was look around in the xmb.

Yup. Your PS3 has to be turned on and in remote play mode, but you can play Bionic Commando on your PSP.

Pixeljunk Monsters is another game that supports remote play on the PSP.

Lair does it too if I'm not mistaken.

My only complaint is lag - I found PJM to be borderline unplayable because of the decreased response times.

Seems kinda silly to me. Instead of playing on my larger TV and the original controller it was designed for, I'll play it on a smaller screen, where I have to be close enough to be synced with the PS3. I like the idea of syncing the systems, but this type of thing seems pointless in my opinion. Maybe I'm not understanding?

I thought it did it via Wi-Fi - so I could play anywhere I had an internet connection, so long as my PS3 at home was on.

If it doesn't, then I agree, it is stupid.

Something to do while sitting on the jon?

I believe that you're supposed to be able to play via the internet too...not just a local network. I don't know how well this works in reality though.

That's why I will never buy a used PSP...

I have used my PSP to stream video and music from my pc to my ps3 and ultimately to my psp via the internet and it works pretty well. Once you get the system setup you can turn on or off the console over the internet and stream away. Not sure how the gaming would be but if this was perfected might be a really fun feature for PSP/PS3 owners.

Yup. Don't know if it's still going on, but there was a T-Mobile promotion for a while where'd you get a free trial period of their WiFi service. Of course you can do it anywhere that has the right kind of setup.

Mainichi Issho is another game that offers Remote Play.

Last I heard was "July" but it isn't going to be this week. 1942 is coming to both Live and PSN but no Bionic Commando. That leaves next week for "July".

Dang, Geometry Wars 2 is coming out next wed now, so I don't think two big games will come out the same day
