If you're thinking about getting Madden 08 for the PS3...

I have it for ps3 and have no complaints... just have to get used to the different controls. (I played 03, 04, and 05 on PC... 06 and 07 on ps2). The framrate and stuttering problem between plays is hardly noticeable and improved over the stuttering problems of 07 on ps2. The game looks and feels much better than NCAA 08 IMO.

I'm really relieved it's not nearly as bad as some of these comments make it out to be. I'm glad I picked it up instead of the ps2 version.

I just don't see PS3 getting a lot of my next gen. gaming money, just the exclusives and 1st releases worth having, that are out before the 360 version. I'm using my PS3 for netflix BD heavily though, and I intend to play all the great PS2 titles on it too.

Yah I'm getting my ps3 by the end of the month, and I'm honestly more excited about playing God of War 2 and some other PS2 games, and especially excited for MK2 on the PSN, more than I am actual games for the PS3. I am going to pick up motorstorm and resistance used, but thats it until ratchet and clank comes out. I may get Heavenly Sword, after I play the demo and see how it is.

NCAA is always based off of the previous year's Madden with some tweaks. So, Madden should always look better.

OT: Was it you that just had someone pick up their CC and go use it? If so, very sorry to hear that, and hope the I.D. theft was worked out quickly with your CC company. :) Sounds like it was since you still get your new toy soon.

I read that NCAA 08 runs at 60fps and has branching animations...my understanding was that these two features were the biggest tech improvements in Madden 08 (not content...but tech related)...

Reminds me of Playstation and Saturn era. Playstation always got the better version because it was easier to program for. Looks like the shoes are reversed now and the Cell is about difficult to program for as was Saturn's parallel processors. Sony better hope the PS3 turns out more like the SNES which had subpar sports games compared to the Genesis but was successful. PS3 is looking lot like the Sega Saturn right now.

yeah seems all the sports games are getting poor development time on the PS3, doesnt bother me one bit though, personally I don't play the sports games much.

Right now the PS3 has 1/4 the buyers in the US so a company like EA is going to put 1/4 the effort into the PS3 versions of games.

If the PS3 sales stay OK (post price drop) the number sold will eventually get high enough to be worth more effort by EA. Also, next year they will be starting with the '08 versions and can improve them just like they moved the 360 versions from 30fps to 60fps this year.

Not that I care about Madden myself, but PS3 owners shouldn't worry too much about the long term -- this is a rebuilding year :)

I dunno about that, I remember the EE being difficult to program for in the beginning as well. I think its all about market share for the multiplatform games, because the exclusives run just fine, and look beautiful.

I was so worried from all the "hear say" I heard pre-launch. I'm extremely happy with it so far. I have only played 1 game off-line and 3 online games so far though.

I give it a big  so far.

Exclusives on the Saturn ran fine and looked beautiful too. Sega was the only company that could program well on the Saturn. It might be the same with Sony and PS3.

Market share does play a big role in development time and money on multiplatform games. Sony's not helping there and being difficult to program for just adds to that. Like it or not, EA is huge and their full support can make or break a system. EA practically saved and made Genesis successful on its own through its revolutionary Madden and NHL series. It continued the tradition with PS1 and PS2 against the Saturn and Dreamcast. If EA turns against Sony with PS3, it could make life difficult for already struggling system. Say what you want about EA Sports, but Madden sells and plenty of people love sports games.

That's a better video of the comparison.

I don't see a whole lot of difference other than the colors (no idea why the PS3 would look a bit washed out compared to the 360). It's definitely not enough difference to make me choose one over the other. For me it would still come down to which controller I prefer.

I think a PS3 guy would rate it against what they know of their previous offering. I dont think they would be swayed away knowing the 360 ran it better.
If anything, someone would shy away from 08 because of EA just being EA, which seems nothing revolutionary is being offered. Rather incremental.

You dont see a difference because the movie itself is running at 30fps, just the same as every other pointless 360 vs. PS3 madden comparison video I've seen.

You'd think somewhere, somehow, some genius would figure out that in order to show the difference between 60fps and 30fps you'd need to make a comparison video at 60fps, but so far, no such luck.

click on the "watch larger version" link on the one I posted in the 3rd post on this thread. The difference is night and day.

It took EA 3 tries to get Madden to run 60FPS Xbox despite its "friendly" coding (all previous Maddens ran at 30FPS). I would be concerned if next year's PS3 version isn't running at 60FPS.

lol yeah there is no difference besides the usual shading and color differences between the ps3 and x360. game looks fun though.

Seriously? I thought the PS3 version looked extremely washed out and bland compared to the 360 version. This was with whatever default video settings on the television they used, according to some guy working for GT. Maybe you could make the PS3 version look better with some colour tweakage, but I wouldn't bother with it.

That comment has come up before with other multiplats, so it's probably another issue of 360 code not porting well to the PS3. PS3 exclusives certainly look vibrant.
