Saddam isn't Al Qaeda or Bin Laden. The administration is obviously trying to make a link between the two parties, but the link isn't crystal clear to me. I rather see Saddam Hussein as a crazy madmen who wreaks havoc on his own people and his neighbors. He is also close to having a basic nuclear bomb, which could again either be used against his neighbors or sold on the black market.

However it has been pointed out and well-substantiated that Saudia Arabia and Iran have links with Al Qaeda and terrorists groups. Bush cannot invade SA because he needs their bases to attack Iraq, which again begs the question "why are we invading Iraq in the first place". It's clear the administration would like Iraq to be a moderate pro-western government, but I don't think it's *really* about terrorism until I see proof otherwise.

edit: Well watching Fox news, it has been reported that Senator Richard Armitage says Al Qaeda are in Baghdad. Much of the information comes from detainees in Guantanamo. Hmm...

Aside from the occasional terrorist attack, we will not be invaded in any sense by anyone's conventional army. War is matter of logistics more than anything else, and currently only the USA has the ability to project military force anywhere in the world. The US is simply too far away for anyone to mount any kind of significant invasion; even the Germans/Japanese couldn't manage it in WWII.
