1) It's COMPAQ- PRONOUNCED COM-PACK. It's not pronounced Compact, nor is it pronounced Comp-A-Que.

2) There is no such word as AUTHENTIFICATION. Why do you keep adding that IF in there??? :| :| :| :|

3) Stop saying "I'm not very computer illiterate!" That statement would mean you ARE computer literate, and it also shows that you are just PLAIN ILLITERATE.

4) If I ask you to type the @ symbol, DON'T TYPE "The at symbol". We end up sounding like an Abbott & Costello routine trying to troubleshoot that :|

5) Stop saying "I'm no computer genius." You know what? I'M NOT EITHER! I didn't write UNIX, nor did I invent the microprocessor. You know all I did? I READ AND UNDERSTOOD THE FREAKING INSTRUCTIONS, SO NOW I GET THE JOY OF READING YOU THE INSTRUCTIONS OVER THE PHONE BECAUSE IT'S EASIER FOR YOU TO DIAL THE FREAKIN' SUPPORT LINE ON YOUR SPEED DIAL THAN TO READ TWO SENTENCES ON YOUR SCREEN!!!!

If you work in tech support, do your freakin' job and quit whining about it.

You chose to work tech support; if you were expecting anything other than what you're getting, you've obviously been misled.

The people who are competent with computers don't call tech support.

No, I didn't. I got drafted doing this today because half the office called in sick/dead/car blew up/having a root canal...etc.

another one..."stop double-clicking EVERYTHING."

but you really have to make sure it's clicked GOOD

I always like to double-click just to make sure, in case my initial single-click might have missed.

OMG- I just got a call from a guy that was complaining he had a static IP. He wanted us to
"Clean up that static crap so my connection gets faster>"[unquote]. I should have told him to wrap foil around his phone lines. I used to do that on my TV antenna to improve reception. That was CLASSIC :D

I tried helping an elderly man over the phone do some simple stuff on his computer, but he couldn't double-click his icons. He'd say they would keep moving. I realized he had some bad tremors, which he never admitted to. So I had to teach him to click once, then press the Enter key to open shortcuts/folders.
