(no dogs appear to be injured in this story)
I was leaving my neighborhood and ran over a dog. Fido appears to be okay though as it bounded away back to where it should have been the entire time... in the control of it's owner. I was only driving ~10-15 mph and it was run over by one of the rear tires but meh.... I hope the dog is doing well and the owner is still suffering from intense emotional distress.
For fuck's sake, secure the god damn leash. This means using it properly and not just holding on to it. Dogs want to chase shit. Generally they're smart but I don't think they know that taking down a car that's 'running away' is a bad idea until getting smacked by one. Unfortunately not all dogs live to learn from this lesson.
FWIW, I never saw it coming until the last second. It was a blur of something out of the rear left of my field of vision and only after i heard a thump and then saw the dog running back to the owner did I realize what happened.
PS, F U to any owner who almost causes ME to feel bad (had the animal died) because YOU don't know how to properly leash your dog that doesn't know any better.
